(2) First Impressions of Tokyo

(2) First Impressions of Tokyo

It was a very hot day, and I immediately started worrying about all the warm clothes I had packed based on the weather forecast.

I had always imagined Japanese trains as extremely quiet, with no conversations at all. However, that image quickly changed. I saw many people talking on the train, chatting freely. What made it even more interesting was that I could understand the conversations around me. Two elderly women were loudly discussing how tall a female train staff member was and seemed quite shocked by her height. At that moment, I realized that aunties are the same everywhere in the world.

On the way to the hotel, I spotted Tokyo Skytree, took a picture, and sent it to my family. Midway, I met Yano-sensei (CALN Online representative), who came to help me with my suitcase.

We spent some time near Skytree and walked around Solamachi (a shopping and entertainment complex at the base of Skytree). It was very crowded, probably because it was the weekend. When I checked the time, I couldn’t believe it was only 1 p.m. The day felt incredibly long, and the jet lag was hitting me hard.

I visited a Pokémon store and a few other shops, including Daiso. Since I’ve been to Daiso in India, many things felt familiar. However, the stores were so crowded that it was difficult to move around, so I decided to leave and head to the hotel.

After reaching the hotel, I had some time to relax and look around the area. As evening approached, the weather started to get chilly. The hotel was located in a very modern area with many tourists, but it wasn’t noisy at all, which I really appreciated. It felt like a pleasant place to walk around, with fewer people and a calm atmosphere along the Kita-Jukken River. Tokyo Skytree looked especially beautiful in the evening.

The next article is about a day spent in Asakusa, and secret ambassadors.
